Professional Sign Refinishing & Restoration in the Tri-Cities
Restore Your Brand’s Presence for a Fraction of the Cost of Replacement
Does your business sign look faded, weathered, or dull? Before you invest thousands in a brand-new sign, consider the Tim White Restoration. Since 1979, we’ve specialized in bringing high-density urethane (HDU) and redwood signs back to their original glory.

Most premium carved signs are built to last for decades, but the harsh Appalachian sun and UV rays eventually take their toll on the finish. Our refinishing service is designed to double the life of your investment while keeping your storefront looking sharp and professional.

Why Refinish Instead of Replace?
-
Massive Cost Savings: Refinishing typically costs between 25% and 50% of the price of a full replacement.
-
Eco-Friendly Choice: We utilize your existing durable substrate, reducing waste and keeping high-quality materials out of local landfills.
-
Faster Turnaround: While a new custom sign can take weeks to manufacture, our restoration process is streamlined to get your brand back in the spotlight quickly.
-
Authentic Craftsmanship: We don't just "paint" your sign; we use the same professional-grade, UV-resistant pigments and gold-leafing techniques that made your sign a landmark in the first place.
Our 3-Step Restoration Process
Serving Bristol, Johnson City, Kingsport, and the surrounding Appalachian Highlands.
-
Deep Cleaning & Stripping: We remove years of grime, oxidation, and failing paint to expose the original carved detail.
-
Surface Preparation: For wood signs, we repair any cracks or rot; for HDU, we sand the surface to ensure perfect adhesion for new coatings.
-
High-Pigment Re-Painting: Using industrial-strength, UV-rated finishes, we meticulously re-hand-paint your colors to ensure vibrant pop and longevity.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
How often should a sand-carved sign be refinished? Depending on sun exposure (south-facing signs fade faster), we generally recommend a professional "refresh" every 5 to 8 years to maintain a "new" appearance and protect the underlying material.
-
Can you refinish a sign that wasn’t originally made by Tim White? Yes. While we know our own signs best, our craftsmen are experts in all sandblasted and dimensional signage. If your sign is made of HDU, Cedar, or Redwood, we can likely restore it.
-
Do you offer onsite refinishing? In many cases, the best results are achieved in our controlled studio environment in Blountville. However, for large monument signs, we provide onsite assessment and restoration services throughout the Tri-Cities region.
